Introducing Chris

Hiya I’m Chris, the newest addition to the Big Solar Co-op team. My role is Solar Lead and that means I’ll be looking after everything solar related, from training up volunteers and checking their designs right through to project managing our installs and getting the PV systems switched on.

My background is a bit mixed, for the last 11 years I’ve been designing and project managing sustainable roofing systems including solar PV, green and blue roofs and some roof safety. I’ve a degree in renewable energy from The University of Exeter, and before that I completed an apprenticeship in electrical building services engineering.

In my ‘spare’ time I’m a Councillor on Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (no points for guessing which party), volunteer as a NVDA activist with Greenpeace UK, and have involvement in a number of community and grass roots action groups.

In my actual spare time, I like nothing more than throwing a bag in the back of my van and heading off for a weekend camping near some trails, the sea or better yet one of my favourite festivals.

I’m really looking forward in pushing the Pioneer Programme on, getting some panels on roofs and seeing how much power we can generate together!
