Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Shropshire Hills, the Discovery Centre is much loved visitor centre with a café, riverside meadows, a museum, a shop and a packed roster of activities for all ages – it is a busy place!
This was an especially interesting installation as the roof there is a living grass roof and has an amazing ‘yin-yang’ style shape. A technical challenge but well worth it to be able to help support this cultural hub by supplying around 64% of their energy requirements at below grid prices.
“The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre is a public building run by the Charity Grow Cook Learn, which encourages people to explore the food, history and landscape of the Shropshire Hills. We encourage sustainable living and having solar installs not only improves our environmental credentials, but it will also inspire some of our 100 000 visitors to think about adopting this technology too. We look forward to enjoying the huge reduction in our carbon footprint and energy bills that the system will provide”.
