Age UK – Gateshead
Age UK Gateshead is an independent charity, that has been working in the local community to help older people since 1972. They have 52 dedicated staff and over 90 volunteers helping them to deliver services and activities for older people in Gateshead.
Over 4500 older people in Gateshead were helped by Age UK Gateshead last year. Alongside advice, the charity supports volunteer befrienders to visit lonely older people in the community who have no one to talk to. The also provide activities at their day centre such as lunch clubs and exercise classes, giving older people the opportunity to keep fit, socialise, or learn a new skill.
